Hip Patient Takes J&J Unit To Top Court Over Implant

By Lucia Osborne-Crowley (April 28, 2022, 6:34 PM BST) -- A hip replacement patient urged the U.K.'s top court on Thursday to find that a Johnson & Johnson subsidiary manufactured a defective device and to order the pharma giant to award him damages for his revision surgery.

John Hastings asked the Supreme Court to overturn a decision of the Scottish Court of Sessions on whether he is owed damages after a hip replacement he had in 2009 — with a device manufactured by J&J subsidiary Finsbury Orthopaedics Ltd. — had to be replaced only three years later.
