By Joanne Faulkner (May 3, 2022, 6:40 PM BST) -- A British property developer suing Howard Kennedy LLP for more than £13.5 million ($16.9 million) said at the start of a trial on Tuesday that the law firm gave "false assurances" about the political risk to its plan to build hundreds of homes.

Counsel for Karis Developments Ltd. and Karis Southern Housing Projects Ltd., a special purpose vehicle, told the High Court that the law firm's brokering of an agreement failed to shield it from the risks of changing local politics.
