Gov't Urged To Anchor Climate Goals In Economic Policy

By Dawood Fakhir (May 6, 2022, 5:06 PM BST) -- The government must lead by example when steering the country's transition to net-zero carbon emissions by embedding green goals in its own economic and financial decision-making, a global nature conservation body said on Friday in a joint statement with Aviva.

The insurance giant and World Wide Fund for Nature argued that the goals for combating climate change should not be a task for the private sector alone. Instead, they require a wider approach involving the whole economy, and that means that the government needs to set the direction as well as lead the way.
