Natural Disaster Losses Down In 1st Half Of 2022

By Irene Madongo (July 29, 2022, 4:11 PM BST) -- Total damage caused by natural disasters dropped to $65 billion in the first half of this year, down from $105 billion for the same period last year, according to reinsurance giant Munich Re.

Insured losses — those that lead to pay-outs from insurers — fell to around $34 billion between January and June this year, compared to the $47 billion seen in the same window last year, according to Munich Re figures published on Thursday.
