MINUTE entry before the Honorable Martha M. Pacold: The court has reviewed the parties' joint status report, 76 , which reports that defendants have voluntarily amended their bill of costs, 74 , to seek a total of $3,088.70, and that plaintiff will not oppose the amended bill of costs. Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 54(d)(1) generally provides that "costs-other than attorney's fees-should be allowed to the prevailing party." See Richardson v. Chicago Transit Auth., 926 F.3d 881, 893 (7th Cir. 2019) (quoting Fed. R. Civ. P. 54(d)(1)). This presumption that the court will award costs places the burden on the opposing party to demonstrate good reasons why the court should not make the award. Lange v. City of Oconto, 28 F.4th 825, 845 (7th Cir. 2022). Under 28 U.S.C. § 1920(2), a judge may tax as costs "[f]ees for printed or electronically recorded transcripts necessarily obtained for use in the case." See 28 U.S.C. § 1920(2). Here, plaintiff seeks a total of $3,088.70 in costs, which consists of fees for the transcription of depositions in this case, as reflected in the amended itemization of costs that is attached to the parties' joint status report, 76 . Because the fees are permitted costs under 28 U.S.C. § 1920(2), because the presumption is in favor of awarding costs to the prevailing party, and because plaintiff has not opposed the bill of costs, the court grants defendants' bill of costs, 74 , in the amount of $3,088.70.
