In light of the recent appearance of counsel on behalf of Mr. Goldberg and the issues raised in his letter, ECF No. 12297, the deposition of Mr. Goldbe rg is ADJOURNED pending a ruling from the Court. Judge Indira Talwani: ELECTRONIC ORDER: denying non-party Brandon Michael Hayes’ Motion for Reconsideration of Order Denying Leave to File Brief as Amicus Curiae [ 297 ] as moot where the court has already ruled on the preliminary injunction motion referenced by Mr. Hayes’ proposed amicus brief [[244-1]], see Mem. & Order [ 285 ], and no motion currently pends before the court. See Students for Fair Admissions, Inc. v. President & Fellows of Harvard Coll., 308 F.R.D. 39, 52 (D. Mass.), aff'd, 807 F.3d 472 (1st Cir. 2015) (“The role of an amicus curiae, meaning ‘friend of the court,’ is to assist the court in cases of general public interest by making suggestions to the court, by providing supplementary assistance to existing counsel, and by insuring a complete and plenary presentation of difficult issues so that the court may reach a proper decision”) (internal quotations omitted). Further, an “individual appearing pro se may not represent any other party” and an “entity that is not an individual may not appear pro se.” See L.R., D. Mass. 83.5.5(b), (c). Accordingly, to the extent Mr. Hayes, who is proceeding pro se, seeks to appear on behalf of the Natural Law Institute, he may not do so, and to the extent that the National Law Institute seeks to appear, it must do so through counsel.
