Status Conference
MINUTES for proceedings held before Magistrate Judge Thomas P LeBlanc: A STATUS CONFERENCE was held on 8/18/2026. Participating by telephone were: Erin McCall Alley and Meagan Johnson Raines on behalf of plaintiff Denise Broussard, and John Goulding Swift on behalf of defendant Walmart Inc. Pending before the court is the 26 Joint Motion to Extend Pretrial Deadlines, which seeks to extend the deadlines for each of the parties to identify expert witnesses and produce expert reports. The requested extensions would put these deadlines 30 days, more or less, prior to the current trial date. The motion requests the extension based on depositions and discovery that need to be completed, as well as ongoing settlement efforts. The court queried the parties as to whether they believed the current trial date could be maintained in light of the efforts remaining to prepare the case for trial. Counsel for plaintiff acknowledged additional time would be appropriate, and counsel for defendant did not disagree but requested time to confer with his client before agreeing to continue the trial date. The Status Conference was recessed and will resume after counsel for defendant has had an opportunity to discuss with his client the issues raised during the Status Conference. Accordingly,
