Order on Motion for Miscellaneous Relief
Magistrate Judge Jennifer C. Boal: ELECTRONIC ORDER entered DENYING 42 Motion for Defendants Adjuster to Attend Mediation by Telephone. This Court prefers to conduct mediations in person because, in this Court's experience, they are more conducive to a productive and effective discussion. Here, defendant requests that its adjuster, Ray Rogers, be allowed to attend the mediation by telephone because he will be occupied by other matters on that date at defendant's Philadelphia office. Under such circumstances, it appears that appearance by telephone would be a hindrance to the mediation. Accordingly, the motion is denied. (AHH)
Order on Motion for Extension of Time
Magistrate Judge Jennifer C. Boal: ELECTRONIC ORDER entered GRANTING in part and DENYING in part 45 Motion for Extension of Time. Although plaintiff waited until the date its mediation statement was due to file a motion for extension of time (and requested until the date of the preliminary conference), this Court in its discretion allows plaintiff an extension of four more days. Accordingly, its mediation statement is due on or before August 7. (AHH)
