   (IN CHAMBERS) ORDER TO SHOW CAUSE RE DISMISSAL FOR LACK OF PROSECUTION by Judge John W. Holcomb: Plaintiff filed a proof of service as to Defendant 12 ; however, no responsive pleading has been timely filed. An action may be dismissed for lack of prosecution pursuant to the Court's inherent authority in circumstances of unreasonable delay. See Link v. Wabash R. Co., 370 U.S. 626, 630-31 (1962); Hernandez v. City of El Monte, 138 F.3d 393, 400 (9th Cir. 1998); see also Fed. R. Civ. P. 41(b); L.R. 41-1. Accordingly, the Court, on its own, ORDERS Plaintiff to SHOW CAUSE in writing no later than August 25, 2026, why this action should not be dismissed for lack of prosecution as to Defendant. As an alternative to a written response, Plaintiff may file, on or before the above deadline, the following: (a) a request for entry of default pursuant to Fed. R. Civ. P. 55(a) or (b) a notice of voluntary dismissal pursuant to Fed. R. Civ. P. 41(a). This Order shall also discharge upon Defendant's filing of a responsive pleading on or before the above deadline.
