German Insurer Launches London Office To Beat Brexit Risk
Law360, London (November 13, 2018, 4:50 PM GMT) -- German insurer Markel Insurance SE has launched a new branch in London to help it continue to serve British customers after the U.K. leaves the European Union in March 2019, a company spokesman told Law360 on Tuesday.
U.S.-based parent company Markel Corp. established the German unit to help serve customers based in the European Economic Area, or with exposures in it, after Britain exits the EU’s regulatory framework in just over four months.
The Prudential Regulation Authority has approved Markel Insurance SE’s U.K. operation, the Markel spokesman said. The German unit has already won authorization for branches in the Netherlands and Spain....
