Suspect In €10M Cryptocurrency Heist Arrested In UK
Law360 (January 23, 2019, 5:06 PM EST) -- British police backed by European authorities arrested a British man in Oxford on Wednesday who's thought to have stolen €10 million ($11.38 million) in cryptocurrency from unsuspecting victims who had turned to him for help.
The European Union's police force, Europol, said Wednesday that police apprehended the 36-year-old man at an undisclosed address in the city on charges of fraud, theft and money laundering. His name was not released.
He's wanted in connection with a string of thefts of the IOTA cryptocurrency, a kind of digital currency stored online in wallets, from some 85 individuals beginning last January.
