Accountant Jailed For Plundering Company Pension Fund

Law360, London (March 29, 2019, 6:08 PM GMT) -- An accountant who allegedly used a pension scheme of which he was a trustee and administrator as his "personal piggy bank” has been jailed for more than three years after he transferred £290,000 ($377,500) from the scheme.

Roger Bessent, 66, who was a trustee and administrator for the Focusplay Retirement Benefit Scheme, was sentenced to 40 months in prison at Preston Crown Court on Friday after he pled guilty last month to five counts of fraud and two counts of making prohibited employer-related investments.
