Iranian Bank To Appeal Disclosure Order In $1.6B UK Suit

Law360, London (April 10, 2019, 8:02 PM BST) -- An Iranian bank said Wednesday it will ask the U.K. Supreme Court to overturn a ruling requiring it to disclose its customers as part of its $1.6 billion lawsuit against the British Treasury over previously imposed sanctions later determined to be unlawful.

During a High Court hearing, Bank Mellat said it will file an application asking for the Supreme Court to review a March decision by the Court of Appeal requiring the bank to hand over an unredacted customer list. The bank maintains that if it were to comply, it would be in breach of Iranian law.
