Over 100 Cos. Sue Shipper Maersk Over Fire-Damaged Cargo

Law360, London (April 17, 2019, 4:45 PM BST) -- More than 100 companies, including several insurers, are suing Danish shipping giant Maersk in London for damages after a ship transporting their goods caught fire en route from Saudi Arabia to several European ports.

Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance Middle East and more than 100 other insurers, commodity traders companies, cargo transporters and other companies have filed a claim in the High Court of England and Wales against Maersk Line AS and the owner of the vessel “Maersk Seoul” over the incident, alleging breach of duty and negligence in the way the cargo and container was loaded and handled.
