By Martin Croucher (October 11, 2021, 1:14 PM BST) -- The operator of a tourist attraction in one of Britain's most popular seaside towns has said it has been handed a £5 million ($6.8 million) payout from its business interruption insurer to cover the economic blow caused by the national COVID-19 lockdowns.
Brighton Pier Group PLC said in a trading statement that the claim covers losses the site suffered up to June 2021.
The full payout comes nine months after the conclusion of a test case on business interruption insurance, brought by the Financial Conduct Authority. The U.K. Supreme Court ruled in January that insurers are liable to cover business closures...
