Lloyd's Wants Former Pro Boxer's Disability Suit Tossed

Law360, London (January 26, 2019, 1:59 AM GMT) -- Lloyd’s of London has asked a California federal court to dismiss a $6.3 million disability coverage claim from ex-pro boxer Andre Ward, saying the policy at issue was written for his management company, not Ward specifically.

In a motion filed Thursday, Lloyd’s said Ward does not have standing to bring his suit seeking coverage for what he calls a career-ending knee injury because the policy names Roc Nation Sports LLC as its owner and beneficiary. The insurance company also said the case should be transferred to New York, where Roc is based.
