Developer Demands Lloyd's Pay $650K For Trashed Pa. Rehab

Law360 (October 24, 2019, 7:59 PM EDT) -- A developer rehabbing a vacant building just outside Pittsburgh said the underwriters of its Lloyd’s of London insurance policy have unduly delayed and denied a nearly $650,000 claim for damage done by thieves stripping the building for scraps, according to a lawsuit filed in Pennsylvania state court.

In a complaint filed Wednesday and made public Thursday, CFAW Holdings LLC said the underwriters on its insurance policy had dragged out an investigation into whether they would cover damage that vandals and thieves did to a commercial building the developer was renovating in Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania, a borough adjacent to Pittsburgh’s booming East End....
