Foreign Cos. Urge NY Court To Confirm $14M Arbitral Awards

Law360 (February 3, 2020, 7:28 PM EST) -- A businessman's foreign-registered companies have urged a New York federal court to confirm $14 million in awards they won in the London Court of International Arbitration against his childhood friend and former associate's Cyprus-based companies, which he accuses of forum shopping and asset shuffling to avoid paying up.

Businessman Alex Spiegel's companies urged the court on Friday to "not get confused" by the tactics of his former business associate Yuri Drukker and his Cyprus-registered companies, according to a memorandum of law opposing a motion to dismiss.
