Law360 (March 11, 2020, 6:06 PM EDT) -- Applications relating to arbitrations made up around 30% of the English Commercial Court's caseload in the court year 2018-2019. These cases include challenges to awards, alongside applications for injunctions in support of arbitration, applications to enforce arbitral awards and other types of applications, such as for the appointment or removal of an arbitrator.
The volume of arbitration claims made each year is a clear demonstration of London’s importance as an arbitration center, which is in itself partly due to the English courts’ pro-arbitration stance.
