Conversant Loses Bid To Restore 3G Patent In Huawei Dispute

Law360, London (October 8, 2020, 4:03 PM BST) -- An English appeals court on Thursday dashed Conversant Wireless' hopes of reversing a decision invalidating one of its 3G wireless network patents, ruling that an amendment to its patent application improperly added new information about the invention.

The Court of Appeal rejected Conversant's challenge to a July 2019 finding by a London judge that it had "added matter" to the patent at issue, changing the invention disclosed in the original patent application. Finding it invalid on that ground, the judge revoked the patent.
