Lloyd's Should Foot Bill For Scaffold Injury Suit, Insurer Says

Law360 (April 15, 2019, 10:52 PM EDT) -- An Ohio-based insurer wants Lloyd's of London to cover the cost of a lawsuit brought by a New York builder claiming he was injured on the job, according to a suit filed Friday in New York state court.

American Empire Surplus Lines Insurance Co. told a New York County judge that the underwriters at Lloyd's should cover the cost of litigation with builder Dionisio Blackman, who's seeking damages for bodily injuries he said he suffered after the 2016 accident.

Blackman sued project owner 180-23rd Street Jackson Heights Inc., general contractor Bulado General Contractors Corp. and subcontractor Republic Scaffold & Hoist Corp....
