EU Probe Finds That Big Tech Dominates Smart Device Sector

Law360 (June 9, 2021, 10:06 PM EDT) -- When it comes to the rapidly expanding Internet of Things, companies are finding it hard to compete with tech behemoths, like Apple and Google, who already have their only vertically-integrated "ecosystems" to operate on, the European Commission said Wednesday.

The commission has been soliciting feedback from across the bloc for almost a year now for its inquiry into the consumer market for the Internet of Things, a term for everyday items like phones, cars and air conditioner units that can connect to the internet.
