By Karlee Weinmann ( December 18, 2013, 4:02 PM EST) -- Broadcaster Al Jazeera is considering buying a majority stake in Turkish satellite-TV provider Digiturk to give itself more soccer offerings as Qatar, its home country, prepares to host the 2022 World Cup, Reuters reported on Wednesday. The Qatari-backed company is the latest in a slew of prospective bidders to take an interest in Digiturk since the company spiraled into debt to a state agency. Turkey's Savings Deposit Insurance Fund has seized a 53 percent Digiturk stake. The Turkish company recently inked a $321 million-a-year deal that will give it exclusive rights to a Turkish soccer league championship. Overall, Digiturk had a market capitalization near $1 billion....
